Animation + Copy + Illustration

The brief

Nourish wanted to showcase the top level benefits of its product to prospective customers in an easy to understand and engaging way. The message needed to sit on the website homepage, be easily shareable, and not feel like a sales pitch or dry feature list.

Over time, the sales and training teams had developed their own tried and tested product demonstration methods. From these, I was able to understand the key features as viewed by prospects, and the optimum order in which to explain them. I’d originally created the Nourish illustration style due to the lack of a photography budget (as an early stage start-up, every penny mattered). The illustrations grew to become a useful and prominent feature of the brand, and I’d always wanted to see them come to life in an animation. This project seemed the perfect opportunity.

I broke the feature list into chapters, then storyboarded various sequences, and wrote the initial voiceover, later working with the marketing team in refining this into a final script. Once the storyboards, script and timings were agreed, I created an asset library ready for a professional animator.

This project was put on temporary hold, and before it was delivered I left the company. However I did manage to meet and brief the animator beforehand, and from my point of view, the finished animation is exactly how I’d envisioned it.
